Seminole Heights Food Guide

A Bib Gourmand that started with 37 seats, a sushi shack that really is a shack, three barbecue kitchens on one avenue, and the beer bar that has anchored it for fifteen years.

Seminole Heights is bungalow streets from the early 1900s that turned into Tampa's independent restaurant corridor, and almost all of it sits on two avenues: Florida and Nebraska.

Start here: Rooster & the Till opened on North Florida in 2013 with 37 seats and a few induction burners, has 72 seats now, and has taken a Michelin Bib Gourmand four times. Yummy House does Cantonese dim sum at lunch only, 11am to 2:30pm, and is Michelin Recommended.

Three pits on one street. Wicked Oak was the only single-location Tampa barbecue restaurant in TAMPA Magazine's 2026 Best Barbecue winners row. The Liberty Smokehouse is veteran-owned a few blocks up the same avenue and makes its own pickles, rubs and brines. Station House is firefighter-owned, opens three days a week, and pre-orders only.

The neighborhood rooms. Front Porch Grille has been in a converted two-storey bungalow since 2002, with Bart's Tavern as its bar side. Trip's Diner is named after the owners' triplets and serves breakfast all day. Ebisu Sushi Shack calls itself the Heights' only original sushi spot and the building really is a shack. Cappy's has done Chicago deep dish and New York thin since 1995.

To drink: The Independent, a women-owned European-style beer bar that has anchored the strip for about fifteen years and stays open to 1am at weekends, and Angry Chair, known nationally for pastry stouts and quietly proud of a gold medal for its pilsner.

A lot of this neighborhood's best-known names are gone: Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe, Nicko's Fine Foods, 3 Dot Dash, Nebraska Mini-Mart. They are still on plenty of roundups. They are not here. Everything we track in Seminole Heights is on the neighborhood page.
